We could call the 20th century the "age
of all-mighty science." The progress of science and medicine
in these 100 years has been truly amazing. Needless to say,
as the physical sciences have progressed, our lives have improved
and become more convenient.
However, in exchange, there is something gone from us. As methods
of transportation improve, our legs and hips become weak. As
our lives become more convenient, our bodies degenerate from
disuse. Modern individuals not only focus on developing their
brains and acquiring much theoretical knowledge, but they also
squander the capabilities that can be developed by using their
bodies. Even worse, they completely forget the problems of
the mind or problems of ki. We, who are given life by the universe,
and receive the blessings of all things, must have gratitude
to the universe, and develop a balance of all subjects, physical
and moral education, if we are to truly develop as human beings.
As medicine progresses, the number of sick people and immunizations
increases. As science progresses, the environment is destroyed,
and it becomes harder to live. If we continue in this manner,
soon all of humanity and the entire planet will be in danger.
It has become clear that there are many failures in the 20th
century and the age of all-mighty science.
The intelligent people of the world have realized this already
and have begun to focus on the previously forgotten problems
of mind and ki. For this reason, we can call the 21st century
the "age of the mind" or the "age of ki." However,
these things have no color, no smell and no shape. If we try
to take hold of our mind or ki in the wrong way, we will only
bring about new mistakes instead of progress.
The mind has its own principles, and the body has its own principles.
Furthermore, mind moves body. By first making the principles
of the mind clear and then training the principles of the body
in accordance with them, we can unify mind and body, and fully
utilize the power of our ki.
It is my hope that as many people as possible learn mind and
body unification correctly at the Tohei Gakuen, master it,
and go on to become leaders in their daily lives.

This is the school that develops Shin Shin
Toitsu Aikido instructors. However, we are not simply turning
out people who can teach Aikido techniques. By mastering the
oneness of mind and body (using the mind and body as one) through
Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, they can apply it in all areas of
life. The oneness of mind and body is not only important for
Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, but also for business, sports, art,
education, nursing and mental care-all fields of life. Therefore,
in addition to those who wish to become Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido
instructors, this school is suitable for those working in other
fields, or those who simply wish to develop basic human abilities.
Students enter this school for a wide variety of reasons. Currently,
there are over 100,000 people studying Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido
in Japan, Asia, America, Europe, Russia, and Oceania. There
are no borders when it comes to studying mind and body unification.
Classes at this school are organized into areas of study that
include mind and body unification, Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido,
tea ceremony with ki, and calligraphy with ki. We learn tea
ceremony and calligraphy so that we can study mind and body
unification from different perspectives. In addition to the
normal classes, we have many special classes based on ki principles.
These include classes such as moral education, developing communication
skills, language studies (English), and reading aloud in Japanese.
Once a year, we hold the All-Japan Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido
Competition and compete to show the results of our daily practice.

At this school, 9th-dan Special Lecturer Yutaka Otsuka and
other high-ranking instructors take a direct hand in instructing
all students. For those who wish to learn Shin Shin Toitsu
Aikido, this is the best possible environment.
@
It has been 8 years since this school was founded. Among its
graduates, there are professional and semiprofessional instructors
of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, and people in a variety of fields
such medicine, nursing, education and art.
I hope that as many people as possible develop an interest
in this school.

This school is a place dedicated to the teaching
of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido.
In the world, there are many places where one can learn all
sorts of things. When learning something, it's natural to want
to be capable or proficient at it. But how do we become proficient
at something? Let me share my thoughts on the subject.
In the case of our school, the main goal is to give people
an understanding, using Aikido techniques, of how to use mind
and body in accordance with universal principles that they
can apply in their daily lives. People are truly connected
to these universal principles if they always use their minds
and bodies in accordance with them.
To learn all things, we must understand the universal mind
that is at their foundation. It is morality that causes the
flower to bloom.
The things we do in everyday life are all visible to the eye.
For example, let's use trees, in particular the part that is
above ground. For the tree to grow visibly we must give it
water, sunlight, the right fertilizer, provide it with a good
environment and attend to it diligently. This job belongs to
us, the lecturers. As mentioned before, we must have a universal
spirit that loves and protects all creation and helps all things
grow and develop; our ultimate purpose is to unify mind and
body and become one with the universe. To fulfill the responsibilities
of our position, we must work together every day.
"If you learn while young, you will serve the world well in your prime.
If you learn in your prime, you will be firm in old age. If you learn in old
age, you will remain after death."--From the Genshi Banroku, a classic Japanese
philosophical text.
There is no age in learning. I hope that you understand the
purpose of this school, and please come to train with us to
experience and apply universal principles.
